When I first decided to “growout” my hair, it wasn’t because I wanted to wear it natural. I just wanted longer, stronger, healthier hair and after 6 years of chemically straightening it, it became dry, brittle, fragile and full of splitends.

After about 3 months of “new growth” I began to notice that the texture of my“virgin hair” wasn’t as nappy as I remembered. Maybe it was all those years of rushing to cover up the new growth every 6 weeks (ok, let’s be real, every 10+ weeks) with a touch-up, that I never noticed that my hair might actually be manageable without a relaxer.

I began fantasizing about my new chic look; rocking tight ringlet curls.Curiosity got the best of me and I did “the big chop”. I got the shock of my life! All this face and so little hair! I had tight curls all right; so tight that they formed a mat on the topof my head. My hair was so short that I couldn’t even form it into abraid. I didn’t just have a fro, I had a TWA-teeny, weenie Afro. There was no turning back now. I had to work with what I had.

Finding a stylist for natural hair was almost impossible and when I moved to Europe that following year, I knew it was up to me to take care of myown hair. After 5 years of research, trial and error, I found a flexible regime that works just right for me and allows me to wear my hair in just about any style I please. My hair is stronger and healthier that ever before and I’m proud to represent a natural sister.

I started my hair journey in January well maybe December but lets say January cause that's when I got my first hair product. I always wanted long soft shiny hair but looked at my family members and thought its not possible and then I ruined my own hair by perming and dying it. I had such short hair but I was able to have the mohawk I always wanted so there was a plus side till I decided I wanted my long hair back Sad and that summer I saw my mum's hair and it had gotten so long, longer than I had ever seen it before I was like wow and so jealous. I used to have the longest hair out of all my relatives. The only people that we had with long hair were the mixed raced members of our family and so I thought it wouldnt be posible for me Sad Thank god I was wrong and thank god for youtube and the internet. I had been watching this woman on youtube and she gave some hair advice and said she did research into longer hair.. I was sat there thinking reasearch? what is this word lol and so when she gave the name of the website and the hair product she used I decided to order the hair product and do more research on it and the hair forum all of this eventually led me to you and you have some the best hair I have seen and you seem to really know how to look after it. Also you are one of the few people who I have found who is in england and not the states so you will know of products available here. My hair i much healthier than it has ever been it is softer and more moist and longer. My first goal changed from long hair to getting my scalp healthy then i worked on moisture and softening my hair. Now I am working on thicker and stronger hair. I havent completely cut out chemicals from my hair but I want to. I am loving my hair journey and I cant wait for the day my hair is long and gorgeous.

I just started growing my hair out. Ive had perms since I was 10. Im 14. I have a naturally dark red hair color, and everyone was m,ad when i got a perm and dyed some parts of my hair honey blonde. Well, I cut all of my color out, and now im all natural afro Ive been completly natural for 2 days, and Im sooo worried. Im told to keep it braided and wash it once a week and braid it again. Thats fine with me. Im just worried about how long it will take to grow. Im young and naive. So if anyone knows, please tell me. What a Face THANK YOU
